Volunteering with Abriendo Mentes: A Tremendous Experience.

Volunteering with Abriendo Mentes was a tremendous experience in many ways.   Meradith and Drew have tremendous energy and their knowledge of how to engage children in learning is impressive.  They have been masterful at obtaining and utilizing a wide array of resources to provide more and more opportunities to the children and adults of Playa Potrero.  Being able to live with a family in a Tico town gave me an appreciation and understanding of the culture of Costa Rica that was invaluable.  Meradith chooses host families carefully, and she and Drew are very responsive to any need or concern that arises.  What they have created is remarkable and I am so fortunate to have been able to be involved with Abriendo Mentes for even a short time.  Perhaps the highest praise I can give is that I hope to return, possibly as soon as next year.
