Current Project
The initial model of Abriendo Mentes is based in the small, rural community of Playa Potrero located on the north Pacific coast in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. Rich in culture and steeped in traditional farming values, Playa Potrero is an idyllic, charming village, whose residents typify the "Pura Vida" lifestyle of this peaceful democratic nation.
Together with the help and support of the local community of Playa Potrero, we were able to initiate the first official day of The Abriendo Mentes project on June 8th, 2009. Since then, we have seen much growth and expansion; from the initial day with 15 participating community members, to the current participation of over 100 children and adults ranging in age from 2 - 50 years old.
With over 1,000 teaching hours since our beginning, Abriendo Mentes is off to a strong start.
