The Public Education System
As for continuing education, many students are unable to attend school past the primary level for various reasons. Secondary schools are not located in every town, and the bus fare to the nearest High School is often a financial burden that many families are unable to bear.
Public schools also struggle with challenges such as poor quality of infrastructure, lack of teaching space and classroom furnishings. Resources including teaching materials, computers, and instructors for basic classes or extracurricular activities are chronically in short supply. The parents often have to contribute to basic school operating costs such as toilet paper, cleaning supplies and soap. The combination of these factors can hinder the learning experience or opportunity for the youth in rural communities.
