Abriendo Mentes: Enhance. Educate. Empower.

Abriendo Mentes is a non-profit community development initiative that empowers rural Costa Rican communities by providing educational, technological and social programs to those who need it most.

We offer four innovative programs to the youth and adults of Playa Potrero and Playa Brasilito, Costa Rica: Youth Education (with an emphasis on experiential learning and ESL), Adult Education (with an emphasis on vocational ESL classes), Women's Empowerment, and a Technology Center.

The ultimate goal of Abriendo Mentes is to equip each community member with the knowledge and resources needed to achieve a better standard of living and promote economic stability.

If you are looking for volunteer oppotunties in Costa Rica, Abriendo Mentes is always seeking enthusiastic, dedicated indiviuals who want to make a difference in our community. From teaching English to grant writing, women's empowerment to web development, there are many ways to get involved with one of our programs. Over the last four years, more than 150 short and long term volunteers have been able to make a positive impact in the communities of Playa Potrero and Brasilito.
